Visiting the big trains...

I recently joined a Cambridge University Railway Club trip to the National Railway Museum at York where we were kindly given a special tour of the museum with access to the engineering workshops and archives. As always, it was a wonderful experience seeing the best of British and worldwide railway engineering first hand. Coincidentally, the trip also provided an opportunity to look around the beautiful City of York itself and pay a visit to the Monk Bar!

London Festival of Model Railways

In late March, some of the Banbury Connections team visited the London Festival of Model Railways at Alexandra Palace. This gave us the opportunity to see the best of British Railway Modelling, collect some parts from Replica Railways and meet up with senior management from the BNR which kindly donated a Replica BR Mk1 Crimson BG to Banbury Connections. The BNR mechanical engineering department has also procured parts for the Banbury Connections ex-LNER B1 which received a substantial rebuild by BNR staff earlier this year. This will hopefully put the B1 back into service.
