Twin Halls

22/10/2017

Given the current favourable prices for Hornby Halls, Banbury Connections was faced with the predicament of having two halls with the same name. This was rapidly rectified with new nameplates and numbers printed out and glued over the existing ones. Below are photos of Helmingham Hall and Cobham Hall.

Electrification of Leamington Spa point work.

Major works were recently undertaken at Leamington Spa to electrify the passing loop on the UP main, the point joining platform 4 with the main line, the cross over between the UP and Down tracks (for cross country and freight workings between the north-west and Great Central) and the cross over between Stratford-Upon-Avon and Leamington Spa. Despite some initial teething problems, which have now (hopefully) been resolved, the electrification of these seven points should improve railway operations substantially by opening up additional tracks to the Banbury operator.

Busy moment at Gosport

The general conception is that operating Gosport is one of the less demanding roles on Banbury Connections (notwithstanding they often operate Bradford, Winchester and Cleethorpes as well!). Nevertheless, with its significant freight workings and passenger workings from two locations, the station can become rather busy!

707 takes shape

The aeronautical engineering team has been hard at work with the Boeing 707 taking shape. Much of the paintwork has been applied despite a recent paint shortage. There could be a hiatus in construction given the limited availability of construction crews.
